How we Got Started
Andrea Ritter, along with Abby Powell, Colleen Buch, and Kelly Blum, set up a major fundraising effort to support Sea Isle City’s first responders, essential personnel, and those who have lost their jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This was a great team effort! Andrea had the idea and collected the donation funds, Abby and Colleen used their connections within the local community to help set up delivery locations throughout Sea Isle City, and all members spread the word. Donations came in droves from so many concerned residents and second-homeowners, raising a total of $6,333.00.
“Sea Isle Strong”
Sea Isle Strong is the name of the group that was formed during this fundraising effort. We used the funds to purchase meals from local restaurants (Brizzles, Oar House, Giovannie’s Spinners, Hanks, and Ricks) as a thank you to our Sea Isle Police, Fire, EMS, and Public Works units. In addition, food donations were made to the Methodist Church Food Bank and Pastor Melissa Wade to help with those in the community who are struggling due to job loss and pay cuts. Sea Isle Strong was also able to support Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge, Animal Shelter and Adoption Center, Cape May Court House, and Funny Farm Rescue Animal Sanctuary through monetary donations.
A Family Affair
Members of the Ritter family helped out throughout this endeavor by taking the lead organizing this event. Many others in the community contributed by delivering to various locations. This is the time for families and communities to come together to support one another. We are blessed to be a part of such an amazing outpouring of love and support for Sea Isle City.
Sea Isle City Public Works: 30 people in warehouse & 8 in office
Shore memorial: 20 front line medical staff were fed from the Oar House restaurant
